even with a fully charged set of batteries, the starter ramps up the speed over the first couple of cylinder strokes. the mechanic even noted it himself that the second you touched the key the starter is turning at full speed. With no ramp up. it throws you off at first. But you get used to it. Amazing!

This technology should come on all new trucks! I am impressed, the SkelStart has performed perfectly at home testing by running down the other batteries with house loads, to the point of the low battery lock out shutting everything off at 12.2V. Re-charge was a couple minutes after the initial charge from empty to full in 16 minutes.
It was easy for the most part installing. Jean was extremely helpful with questions I had that came up during install, and followed up after to make sure it all went well. Can I amortize the cost over the time I will have the truck? Maybe not but what price would you pay for the of peace of mind knowing your truck will start? Highly recommend doing your research and purchasing.

Only thing I'd change is putting postes in middle of battery so positive and negative could hook up to existing system, not using jumpers

Went on a motorhome trip to Oregon, and installed the ESM just before we left on the "worst trip ever". I got into a shouting match at McDonald’s over hair in my food. Two days later got food poisoning, and was sick for a week. Wife broke her wrist. Engine starting battery died. Would turn the key and the dash lights would blink dimly. That battery was absolutely dead. I simply pushed the aux start / battery combiner switch, count to five, and turn the key. That engine turns over faster than it ever has. Starts every time without fail. Now have a new battery next to the ESM and I can rest easy because I know I will never be stranded somewhere with a no start issue. I’ve been waiting for this capacitor technology for a long time, and I just might have the first motorhome with an ESM. It doesn’t sparkle or bling bling, but when I turn the key, “I" love it.

This is my second Skelstart. The first one performed so well that I purchased another. The first Skelstart eliminated two batteries on my day cab truck and lost around 75 lbs. My truck is able to spin over effortlessly at negative 30 degrees fahrenheit. I'm probably going to get a third for my pickup instead of replacing the batteries.
